Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel on Suffolk’s Heritage Coast
Tucked away on the Suffolk Heritage Coast just a stone’s throw from the sea, the Thorpeness Golf Club & Hotel has one of the finest golf courses in Suffolk. Designed by five-time Open Champion James Braid, the classic 6,311-yard, par 70 course British heathland course will appeal to golfers of all abilities.
Book one of the 36 comfortable, first and second floor rooms and you can be on the course in under five minutes; some have views of the golf course and putting green, while others look out over the gardens or Meare boating lake.
There’s a range of dining areas with menus to suit all tastes from classic dishes, grills and seasonal seafood in Ogilvie’s ‘tee view’ restaurant to traditional bar food and open sandwiches in Braid’s Bar, where wood panelled walls are furnished with club memorabilia and names of captains past and present. Light bites and afternoon tea are also served in the lounge and outside terrace, on finer days.
